RANDOM FACTS

I use way too many exclamation marks, but I'm really just that excited!!!! I want to know what moves your heart. I say "that's so funny" quite a bit, but it can mean a number of things. I am a lover of donuts and tea. I floss every night before bed! I love the idea of being spontaneous, but rarely do things unplanned. I am the youngest of four girls, but I'm taller than all my sisters. I would love to open a cafe someday. I am fascinated by the bridegroom God and his ravished heart for all of humanity

    THANK YOU!

    BLESSED. SO SO SO BLESSED!

Hey everyone! Thank you so much for all your encouragement and input this past week- it definitely helped me out while I was choosing the perfect outfit to wear for my portrait session with Shelley! I just got back last night and had an AMAZING time in Buffalo, Minnesota. I learned so much and can’t wait to put everything into practice. Here are a few photos from my trip- hope they’ll give you a better feel of what my last few days were like! : )

So. My trip started EARLY Tuesday morning. My cousin (THANKS JEFF!) drove me to the airport at 4:20am so I could make my flight at 6. This is how dark it was outside! After checking in I had a good while to just sit and rest, take a few photos.

About two hours later I arrived in Denver and had another hour to rest before catching my next flight. I journaled and ate and looked over directions for Shelley’s place.

Okay. This is where things get a bit emotional. Flying out to Minnesota was a BIG DEAL for me. I knew I wanted my portraits taken this year since it’s my GOLDEN YEAR, but when Shelley first brought up the idea of flying out to her, I thought it was a bit crazy. I’ve never taken a trip for myself and I wondered if it would be too selfish of me to go? But the more I thought about how I just needed to take this opportunity and really live, I knew I had to do it- for myself, for my dreams, for my business. After all, it is my golden year! But even then, it took a lot for me to go. I usually like to stick with what’s familiar so the thought of visiting a place I’ve never been to and know nothing about sounded a bit intimidating. Renting my own car seemed so grown-up and what if I crashed it?! There was so much on my mind even as my plane landed…

Oh, but God knew all of that and he knew just what I needed. When I got to the car rental place, the Dollar man asked if I wanted an upgrade for just a little more each day. When I told him I was fine with the small car I had booked, he nodded and upgraded my car anyway..just for fun, and with no additional fee! I drove out of that parking lot feeling pretty blessed.

I finally arrived at Shelley’s place after a long drive. She welcomed me with a big hug and gave me a quick tour of the house and of her studio. Then, she told me she had a surprise for me. Surprised about the surprise, I put my things down and followed her downstairs. Shelley picked up an envelope from her dining table and handed it to me- I was a bit confused at this point, wondering who in the world would write me (and send it to MN!), but quickly opened the envelope to find a card inside, and inside the card, a big fat check to take care of my expenses. My eyes scanned the card and saw that it was signed by many of my friends at home. I didn’t have to read the whole card (well, I couldn’t have anyways, because I was in tears at this point!) to know that they were sending their love (to MN!). I was so shocked, so WOWed, and completely overwhelmed. They went behind my back, contacted Shelley, and arranged this whole thing without me knowing…I couldn’t believe it! Yes, I am blessed!

So this was the start of my fabulous few days in Minnesota. Things just kept getting better and better from there and I will definitely get into more details as I process this trip some more. Here’s a sneak-peek of what I wore for my photoshoot, by the way! I will keep the rest a surprise until I get my photos back! : )

(These next two photographs I took yesterday as I was journeying home.)

Oh, what a blessed week! I had so much fun and can’t wait to share more with you soon!

WHAT DO YOU WEAR TO A PHOTOSHOOT?!

I am wondering the same thing! In exactly one week I’ll be getting my portraits taken by Shelley Paulson. I’ve been going out so much in the last two weeks looking for the perfect outfit and I realized one thing: I suck at shopping! For the past few times I went out I spent hours looking around, tried a few things on, decided to get them, then put them all back on the rack before I left the store. Not productive at all!

I did pick up a pair of cowboy boots, though… still haven’t decided if I’m going to wear them for my session yet.

I was talking to my wonderful girlfriend Janet about my dilema and she was SO helpful. She got so excited for me she started looking up different outfits for me to consider. This is what she came up with…

    1. i think the color mint would look nice with a light brown cowboy boot. mint is very in :)

    2. a striped dress would add some texture to the landscape you’re photographing in and would draw more attn to the subject: you!! :) maybe pair it with a jean jacket.

    3. i particularly like the denim look with cowboy boots. its more laidback, yet chic! very “in”.

    4. red would be a good color with neutral brown boots too. and it would look very nice against a yellow or green nature background. think color blocking!

I put together everything she suggested on Polyvore and tadaaaa! (Thanks for all your help Jan!)

What do you guys think? If you have any suggestions, please share..I’d love to hear from you : ) And to all my clients- I’M SORRY! I had no idea it was this hard choosing an outfit!

After Henry and Jung’s wonderful engagement session I was totally looking forward to our next shoot- bridals! Jung got her hair and make-up done that morning and was absolutely stunning in her white gown. ALL of that+ the breathtaking view at Laguna Beach= perfect bridal session! I couldn’t get over how beautiful everything was…

Jung, you’re breathtaking. You are going to make SUCH a gorgeous bride!

Henry and Jung wanted to end their shoot with some jumping pictures. It was really the perfect way to end our session- lots of laughs and so much joy! : ) I can’t believe you two will be married in less than three weeks! Woohoo! : )

Portrait Session with Isaac and Micah

It’s been a while since I’ve seen Isaac and Micah and my oh my, how they’ve grown!

I come from a family FULL of girls so hanging out with these two boys was quite different…they have so much energy! : ) A few photos down you’ll see Isaac and his crazy impressive jumps! He was so excited about them he jumped for about 10 minutes straight, no joke, haha.

I love the pictures of Isaac taking care of Micah- so sweet : ) They are going to grow up to be good friends!

Taking and editing these photos brought back so many memories of my sister Eunice and me. Actually, only memories of us from photographs- I can’t really remember anything below the age of 5 (which makes me SO sad, but I sure am thankful for all the photographs my parents collected of us). Just for fun, here’s one of me and Eunice. We’re about the same age as Isaac and Micah in this photo : )

    My Beautiful Friend Jessica

[“LIKE” this blogpost and leave a comment below to enter for another chance to win a FREE PHOTOSHOOT!]

I loooooove Jess and I know you all would too. She is sweet, goofy, fun, and super intense- all at the same time! I always feel at home with this girl, whether we’re eating dorm food or dim sum, laughing or crying, sharing or dreaming… I can totally be myself around her. You are such an inspiration! I appreciate your friendship so much, Jess, and I can’t believe you’re moving so far away. SO. FAR. AWAY!

Jess is a writer and a soon-to-be designer (maybe). She is passionate about life and relationships and she gives herself to seeking out with is true.

Oh, Jess. I loved photographing you. You’re beautiful (inside-out, might I add) and so full of LIFE. I can’t wait for the next time I get to see you! : ) Blessings as you go!

    HENRY AND JUNG ENGAGED!

[“LIKE” this blogpost and leave a comment below to enter for another chance to win a FREE PHOTOSHOOT!]

It was past midnight and we were just starting to get worried. Then suddenly Jung walked into our apartment with a huge Minnie Mouse balloon in one hand and a bag of goodies in the other, a little grin on her face. “You guys went to Disneyland?!” we asked in shock. We had known Henry was going to take Jung out, but for the whole day?! and to Disneyland?! “He likes you FOR SURE!” I continued..”A LOT!” We quickly sat her down and surrounding her, asked for every little detail. And that’s how Henry and Jung started : )

Oh, what a pleasure it was to witness the coming together of you two. I am so excited for your wedding next month and all the exciting new journeys ahead of you. Thank you for such a wonderful session : )

After spending some time at the Getty we headed off to UCLA where we all went to school. When we were planning for our shoot I suggested having a picnic with some sweets and desserts since Henry used to bring over lots and lots of them to our apartment. Jung was very generous to share them with us, so thank you Henry and thank you Jung! : ) These two were very very prepared for their picnic. Oh, you should have seen all the bags and boxes we used to carry all of this in.

Henry, you are one blessed man : )

Ok, so we had to bring Mickey and Minnie into our shoot…how could we not?!

Stay tuned for Jung and Henry’s Bridal Session!

    Portrait Session with E. Bryce

[“LIKE” this blogpost and leave a comment below to enter for another chance to win a FREE PHOTOSHOOT!]

Good morning and happy Thursday! : ) Today’s post will be my fourth and last entry from my trip to Texas. If you missed it, the first one was on swimming with Ella, the second post on Ella’s playdate, the third post on the family session I had with the Wangs, and finally this one is all about the newest member of the Wang Family, E. Bryce!

Since I was staying with my cousin for almost a whole week, I got to do a few mini sessions with this little man throughout my stay. E. Bryce is such a sweet, quiet, and calm baby. I love it when he smiles at me! : ) And I’m totally not surprised that the ladies from his daycare called him “the charmer.” Oh, he totally is!

    Is he not so handsome?!

I’m sure by now E. Bryce is already SO much bigger. I can’t wait for the next time I get to see him : )

    Hannah and Jeremiah MARRIED!

[“LIKE” this blogpost and leave a comment below to enter for another chance to win a FREE PHOTOSHOOT!]

Since I posted on Jeremiah and Hannah’s sweet proposal in February and fun engagement session in March, I’m sure everyone was looking forward to seeing pictures from their wedding day. Well, I am happy to say that I have some to share with you today! : )

Jeremiah and Hannah, also known as Hannamiah (one of our friends mentioned Hannahmiah sounds like it could be a book in the Bible… SO TRUE! hahaha), became Mr. and Mrs. Choi last month. Because I was part of the wedding party I was only able to capture moments before and after the wedding, and even then, not as much as I had wanted. Oh believe me, I was TORN between getting the perfect shots and helping Hannah with whatever she needed.

Hannah and Jeremiah’s wedding was such a unique one. They both value community so much that they decided to have their big day up in Big Bear where family and friends could stay the whole weekend. There was so much love going around and seeing everyone help out with putting the wedding together (literally) brought so much joy! Everything was so beautiful…

and now, the big day! We were blessed with many, many, talented family and friends to take care of all our needs- thank you so much….us girls felt pampered! : )

Hannah, you look beautiful..so so so beautiful (Great job on the hair and make-up Cherry Le!). So here we are, off for Hannah and Jeremiah’s first look!

Following the wedding ceremony, which was SO BEAUTIFUL (I think everyone was in tears from beginning to end), was the banquet. Jeremiah’s cousin Deborah did most of the planning and everything was just so perfect.

Hannamiah, along with their family members, served the guests dinner. What a powerful act of love.

Wow, what a magical weekend it was. The newlyweds have since then been visiting family and will be leaving for Korea tomorrow. I am going to miss them SO much, but know that there is nothing but GREAT things ahead of them. Korea, you better take good care of these two! : ) Hannah and Jeremiah, love you two so so much. Bless you as you go!

    Shiloh’s 6 Months!

[“LIKE” this blogpost and leave a comment below to enter for another chance to win a FREE PHOTOSHOOT!]

I’m sure you all remember my adorable niece Shiloh from her newborn session and her 3 month shoot. She has grown SO much since then and I’m super excited to share these pictures with you : )

Two weeks ago my brother-in-law went out of town for a church conference so Eunice and Shiloh came to stay with me at my parents’ house (they were also out of town, so it was just the three of us..super fun!). Shiloh and I got to bond so much that week, my brother-in-law got super jealous! haha, jk Ben. But I did love bonding with her through napping and playing and even dancing in the middle of the night when she woke up for her feeding…my sister and I realized that was NOT a good idea when she got too excited and wouldn’t go back to sleep! haha

Do you think my sister and I look alike?! People used to think we were twins all the time. Anyway, wait til you see Shiloh’s cute lil’ swimsuit! Perfect for summer : )

I love you so much Shi! : )

    Family Session with the Shiehs

[“LIKE” this blogpost and leave a comment below to enter for another chance to win a FREE PHOTOSHOOT!]

When my childhood friend Ingrina told me this would be the first time her entire family will be together in years, my heart broke. I am so spoiled with so much family around me it’s hard to imagine being apart from them for that long of a time. I am so glad I was able to have a session with the Shiehs, a family I grew up with, and to really bless them with photographs to remember this season of their lives.

Daddy and Mommy Shieh are so cute! A few photos down, you’ll see Mommy Shieh asking Daddy to sing her some songs. Love is sweet : )

Siblings! : ) Ingrina got married a week before our shoot and would be heading out to the UK just a few days after. I love that her brother suggested some pictures with mommy and daddy.

and now, bring in the rest of the family!

To Jeff now in Japan, Ingrina and Alan in the UK, and to Jonathan and Mr. and Mrs. Shieh in the states, bless you! Thank you for such a wonderful session. I’m excited for the next time you will all be together again! : )
